Why I ran for a seat on the City Council

Serving on the Lake Geneva Plan Commission for the past three years gave me a keen sense of the Lake Geneva community, the people, the businesses, and the city government. I’ve been surprised by how my past experiences have prepared and equipped me to serve on the Plan Commission and the City Council.

I believe my qualifications and business background enable me to bring a unique perspective. During my career, I’ve managed budgets of up to $27 million, and have hired, trained, and led hundreds of professionals. I’ve been elected to leadership positions among my peers at the state and national levels.

Most importantly, I have the energy, time, and expertise to pursue key issues and produce quality results.

It is a privilege and honor to serve the residents of Lake Geneva.

  • My wife and I own a home adjacent to the Hillmoor Recreational Area and have invested in the long-term success of the Lake Geneva community. We have three adult children, four grandchildren and have lived in MN, MO, IL, and now Lake Geneva. I grew up in a small farming community in western MN and have since lived in small and large cities.

  • For 30+ years I was a president and CEO of state, national, and international trade associations ranging from the grocery industry, supply chain logistics companies, window and door manufacturers, and electric, gas, and water utilities, among other industries.

  • During my career, I served as a chief industry lobbyist, guided governmental affairs programs, testified before legislative and regulatory groups, and served on numerous boards, task forces, and public policy think tanks.

  • After serving three years on the Plan Commission, my track record and past business experience will deliver results promptly and effectively.

  • There are many issues facing Lake Geneva, such as the future of Hillmoor, short-term rentals, parking, Main Street construction, and public safety, among others. These issues need people who are capable, experienced, collaborative, and intuitive. Delivering results is what counts.

  • The City of Lake Geneva has a rich history that needs to be honored and preserved. At the same time, the city continues to evolve as a great place to live and work while also serving as one of the top vacation and tourist destinations in the Midwest. I have the business and government experience to shape how our city moves forward.

  • City Councils work best when members keep the interests of residents, businesses, and visitors as the priority. Personal agendas should be set aside. Collaborating to deliver the best solutions will be a top priority during my service on the City Council.

  • Keeping the community informed about pending issues, actions, and advisories should be a priority. There are many methods to deliver information. I will work to implement regular communications from the City Council.
